Peugeot has officially pulled the covers off its new E-3008, with the model receiving a fully electric drivetrain, modern design, and a generous amount of tech.
This is the first vehicle from the French carmaker based on the STLA Medium platform from Stellantis, and it’ll feature two trim levels, three option packs, and three fully electric powertrains. A hybrid version will also be available for specific markets.
The new model has adopted Peugeot’s modern design language and comes in a fastback body style that we haven’t seen on any of its predecessors before.
Two trim levels are are available to choose from, including Allure and GT, with the latter being the top-of-the-range model, meaning it gets distinct features such as 20-inch wheels, ‘Pixel’ LED headlights, a two-tone paint scheme, and more.
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a “floating” 21-inch panoramic display that incorporates both the gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen into one pane. Allure models will receive two 10-inch screens as standard.
The first of the three powertrain offerings is the entry-level two-wheel drive variant that makes 157kW and 343Nm of torque, drawing its power from a 73kWh 400V lithium-ion battery for a maximum range of 525km.
Next is the dual-motor version that’s a bit more peppy with 240kW, but still achieves a range of 525km from its 73kWh battery.
Finally, a long-range model with 700km of range will be offered, supplying power to a single electric motor that makes 170kW/343Nm.
Whichever battery the E-3008 is equipped with, it can be recharged via an 11kW or 22kW AC charger, or a 160kW DC charger that boosts charge from 20 to 80 per cent in about half an hour.
There’s also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, giving the EV the ability to supply up to 3kW and 16A to electric appliances like scooters.
All electric models will come with three-stage regenerative braking which is operated via paddles behind the steering wheel, with both the medium and high levels automatically illuminating the brake lights.
A suite of active safety and driver assistance systems will also be fitted as standard, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, driver attention alert, blind spot monitoring up to 75 metres, road sign detection, and more.
The local arm of Peugeot has yet to announce whether the E-3008 will be offered in New Zealand.
