Peugeot E-3008 Now Offers 700km of Range

Peugeot’s long-range Peugeot E-3008 SUV features a 98kWh battery pack that enables 700km of range per charge. This model will join the current 73kWh variant in the UK soon, meaning a comprehensive range of powertrain options for the 3008.

According to UK pricing, the long-range E-3008 should go for around six figures in New Zealand. Other variants with electric motivation are likely for our market, including the base single-motor 156kW variant with the smaller battery pack. However, it is noteworthy that the top E-3008 is mentioned on Peugeot’s New Zealand website.

Peugeot also offers a 3008 PHEV overseas with an electric range of up to 80km. Its uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder PureTech petrol engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Integrated into auto is a 92kW electric motor that’s powered by a 21kWh battery. Total system output is a claimed 143kW and 350Nm of torque. That’s evidently sufficient for a sprint time of 7.8 seconds, and a combined fuel use figure of 0.8L/100km (20g CO2/km).

Peugeot says the default hybrid drive mode prioritises electric driving when possible. That enables speeds of up to 140km/h. Sport mode uses the electric motor to supplement the petrol engine to deliver maximum performance. The only PHEV on the local Peugeot website is a 308 hatch.

There’s also an entry-level 3008 Hybrid competing on price with the likes of Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. It runs a 100kW 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, a 16kW ISG and 48V battery. Peugeot reckons on a combined fuel use figure of 5.5L/100km and a 0-100km/h time of 10.2 seconds. Here in New Zealand, hybrids like this are limited to 208 and 2008 models.

Peugeot’s E-3008 with its 73kWh battery pack and 154kW/ 343Nm single-motor variant is priced about the same as a Tesla Model Y or Ford Explorer in the UK. It offers range of 522km. A 20-80 per cent top up takes roughly 30min on a 160kW fast charger. The vehicle gets to 100km/h in under 9sec. Here the only electric passenger offering to date is the e-208.

Peugeot’s forthcoming 98kWh model generates 169kW, and features the same 160kW peak DC charging speeds as the 73kWh electric model. A 235kW dual-motor performance E-3008 variant is also on the cards.
