ChargeNet is introducing a new electric vehicle charging pricing structure for its 280 charge points across New Zealand.
According to the company which first began in 2015, its tariffs and pricing structure haven’t “kept pace” with the increasing popularity of EVs and new service offerings.
It now plans to remove the per-minute rate on its chargers and implement a new three-tiered tariff structure based on charge point speed and energy consumption.
“We believe the new pricing structure is easier to understand and fairer for all our customers, regardless of their charging habits and importantly brings New Zealand’s pricing in line with the rest of the world,” says ChargeNet.
The three-tier pricing structure is said to reflect a ‘pay for what you use’ philosophy and is essential for large-scale EV adoption.
It also means slower charging vehicles will avoid paying higher costs for electricity.

The changes will come into effect later this month on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
